My Weekly Grateful Heart: Take 2

As sad as it is, I do believe that yesterday marked the last day of summer for us here at the University. The wind blew ferociously through the night and has continued through the morning. The high expected today is 48¬ļ and the sun is nowhere to be found. It's amazing how quickly we all have to adapt. Yesterday it was shorts and sandals and today it's jeans, moccasins and fleece jackets.

The library is a lovely place to study, and is only a five minute walk from my dorm. One wall is floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out over the Missouri River and the vast landscape, with clusters of little houses here and there. In the evenings, the sunsets drown the library with decadent sunlight and color and the whole land seems to glow. The heaters have been turned on, the Starbucks machine has been refilled and the sweaters have been brought out. It's starting to be fall, and for as long or short it is here to stay, I'm going to enjoy it. I'm sitting here in the quiet, looking out at the clouds filling the sky, listening to classical music (it's essential for peace of mind and intense studying) and I'm pondering what I'm thankful for this week. It's only Tuesday, but my real problem is not what I'm thankful for, but rather trying to narrow it down into a short list. I guess it's a sign of a content heart.

  1. Free hazelnut lattes with extra shots
  2. Organic blankets
  3. Coconut body butters
  4. The adorable Sisters who go about their duties in the simplest and humblest of ways
  5. The cafeteria lady who always asks how I am
  6. $5 cashmere scarves
  7. Cozy slippers to change into when flats start to hurt the tootsies
  8. Daily Mass
  9. WiFi (ha. ha. ha.)
  10. A new Nicholas Sparks book to read

What are you grateful for this week? Why? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
